You will remember that you kindly gave me a copy of your introductory History and suggested that
we might like to review it in Oversea Educttion".
We discussed the book in one of our talks and you
explained to me that there were special local circum-
stances which accounted for the points of difference
between this book and the kind of history book that
we oughin mind se suitable in most of our dependencies.
After further consideration I have come to the conclusion
that the book is so local in sim and method that it would
not be worth our while to notice it in "Overses Education"
Our space for reviews is so limited that weconfine
ourselves to books which have a general interest, i.e.
can be commended to other dependencies for actual use or
as a model. Our main duty if we reviewed the book would
be to explain why it is not suitable for other dependencies.
I hope you will understand the position.
